EndNote

Compatibility and System Requirements

Note that the FSH BYOD Network will block some functionality.  If you are having problems try using a personal wifi hotspot.

The X9.3.version is available for work and home use. Updates to work PCs must be packaged and deployed and will lag behind updates to home installations which may be installed when prompted (update prompts will be offered until a new version is released - at which time a fresh download from the Library site will be required).  EndNote X9 Updates.

Please ensure your home and work EndNote version are the same if you plan on working with EndNote libraries of references between your office PC and your home computer.

This is important because once an EndNote Library has been opened in X9.3 it will not then open in earlier versions of EndNote - regardless of the operating system - ie this warning applies to both mac and windows users.

The Web of Science Group advises compatibility and system requirements for EndNote.

EndNote: Direct Export with Safari or Chrome for the Mac.

Do NOT store EndNote libraries of references in iCloud

The Information below has been copied from Clarivate's user guide - see the box headed The Care and Feeding of Healthy EndNote Libraries.

MacOS Sierra, High Sierra, Mojave, and Catalina Users

MacOS versions 10.12 (Sierra), 10.13 (High Sierra), 10.14 (Mojave), and 10.15 (Catalina) contain features to save the contents of the Documents folder in iCloud and to "optimize" storage by storing less-used files only in iCloud online. EndNote libraries stored in iCloud, even when stored on both the hard drive and online, are subject to corruption over time. If you choose to store your documents in iCloud, we suggest creating a separate folder in your home folder and saving your EndNote libraries there.  Do not store EndNote libraries in iCloud or any other cloud-syncing folder, and do not store EndNote libraries in the Documents folder if you have selected the option to store documents in iCloud.
