About this site

This site is for use of staff employed by the South and East Metropolitan Health Services in Perth, Western Australia. Access is limited to EMHS and SMHS staff in order to comply with publisher licence agreements.

It is an internet site, staff using it outside of the WA Health network login with your usual network credentials.

Staff of other WA Health Services can access their own library's website via the WA Health Libraries Network (WAHLiN).

The Library allows students on placement with EMHS or SMHS sites to borrow whilst on placement and walk-in access is available to online resources.  No external access is available to online resources for students due to subscription licence agreements.

Medical observers who have a contract with EMHS or SMHS and who provide a copy of the contract to Library staff may be considered.

Visiting medical officers and Nurse West staff have walk-in access to online resources but no external access.

Who do we help?

If you are employed anywhere in the East or South Metropolitan Health Services we support your work.  Online access to resources is restricted to staff employed and paid by EMHS or SMHS as required by publisher licence agreements.  If you work elsewhere in WA Health, please use the resources and services of your health service provider library.

EMHS and SMHS Library clients includes staff at:

  • Tertiary / quaternary level hospitals - Fiona Stanley Hospital and Royal Perth Hospital.
  • General hospitals - Armadale, Kalamunda, Murray District and Rockingham Hospitals
  • Specialist hospitals - Bentley and Fremantle Hospitals
  • South and East Metropolitan Mental and Population Health Services

Where are we?

Library and Information Service staff are split across two sites – Fiona Stanley Hospital (Education Centre, ground floor) and Royal Perth Hospital (N Block Colonial House, level 3).

FSH has a small book collection and RPH has books and all the print journals. Both libraries are open Monday to Friday from 8am to 4.30pm, excluding public holidays.
