Cheryl Hamill invited to joint the Librarian Reserve Corps - a WHO / GOARN (Global Outbreak and Response Network) partner on a project to develop a Best Practices Statement for Searching During Public Health Emergencies - January 2021  The Librarian Reserve Corps is organizing an international group of information professionals, librarians, expert searchers, and methodological experts to develop a statement of best practices/recommendations for searching during public health emergencies and disasters.

Cheryl Hamill awarded the HCL Anderson award from the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) in August.

Cheryl Hamill continues as a member of the National Library of Australia's Trove Strategic Advisory Committee, the ALIA Education Advisory Committee and the ALIA Inter-Library Loans Advisory Committee and became the WA representative on the GratisNet Committee.

Now, Next, Beyond COVID-19 – Health Librarians Experiences - Health Libraries Australia virtual professional development zoom event - Thursday 16 July 2020.  All librarians were able to attend or view the presentations online after the event.  Cheryl Hamill's new PubMed presentation and associated document on Resources for Advanced Searching - see links at the bottom on the box.

Taryn Hunt stood down as editor for JoHILA Journal of Health Information and Libraries Australasia - the journal of the Health Libraries Group of ALIA after developing and  launching it as an online journal.  She also stood down from providing an emailed Alerting services on health librarianship issues after running that for several years.

National Library and Information Technicians Symposium 2019.  13-15 November 2019, Melbourne.  Martin Curry was supported to attend.

Digital Health Information Services (HLTH90020) - University of Melbourne - online course.  July to October 2019  Taryn Hunt and Claire Hill supported to complete the course.  Cheryl Hamill taught in one module of the course.

Research data alliance and data opportunities for libraries lecture at UWA - 7 August 2019 - attended by Alex Petrie and Taryn Hunt.

ALIA Health Libraries Australia Professional Development Day 2019 - Caulfield.  Attended by Cheryl Hamill [self-funded] and Taryn Hunt [funded as the editor of the national HLA News].

Journal of Health Information and Libraries Australasia - Taryn Hunt is the editor for the national professional publication.

Sepember 2018, Cheryl Hamill invited to join the National Library of Australia's Resource Sharing Futures Steering Group.

Rogene McCoy is a workshop facilitator at the FSH 2018 IMPROVE Conference 20 September 2018 on the topic of Literature Searching - Searching Medline (Ovid) using Medical Subject Headings (MeSH).

Claire Hill has completed a course in group training.

Cheryl Hamill, member of the national Health Libraries for National Standards (HeLiNS) Reference Group - part of the work of HeLiNS was to develop saved literature searches to support the accreditation standards - this work has been completed by a South Australian colleague Sarah Hayman.

Cheryl Hamill will be one of those teaching (online) in the University of Melbourne's Digital Health Information Services unit that starts in 2019.

Cheryl Hamill for the ALIA Health Libraries Australia Group in collaboration with the ALIA Academic and Research Libraries Group coordinated a professional development session on Advanced Search for Complex Topics - 28 June 2018 at the J Robin Warren Library (formerly the UWA Medical and Dental Library).  The presentation is by Samantha Blake, Senior Librarian, UWA.

Cheryl Hamill appointed to the ALIA Education Advisory Committee 1/4/2018 to 31/3/2021.

September 2017 ongoing.  Cheryl Hamill is a member of the ALIA Interlibrary Lending Advisory Committee. The work of the group reflects on resource sharing between libraries and included a national Share It - Resource Sharing Futures conference in May 2018.  Presentations including one from CH.

2017

January 2017 - March 2018  Cheryl Hamill invited to join a national Health Libraries for National Standards (HeLiNS) Reference Group.  The purpose of the research is to explore and record the contribution that health library services make to the achievement of hospital accreditation, with a view to demonstrating their value.  The research is jointly funded by Health Libraries Australia and Health Libraries Inc (a Victorian group).  Meetings held by phone conference.

Oct 9-10  OSH Representatives course - Martin Curry

Sep 27-29 National Library and Information Technicians Symposium 2017. Two staff funded to attend (Martin Curry and Claire Hill). Claire Hill presented a paper - Building bridge with IT: successful collaboration with your IT department.
