There are a few ways that you can identify retracted articles while searching:

• You can set up your EndNote library to identify retracted articles. See our EndNote guide for instructions on how to set this up. 
• Subscribe to Retraction Watch to get the latest updates on retracted articles around the world. 
• Install LibKey Nomad on your browser. LibKey Nomad lets you know what access the library provides to a particular article but will also advise when an article has been retracted. 
• Some databases will include filters for retractions or options to limit searches to a publication type e.g. "retracted article"

Can I cite a retracted paper? 

Retraction Watch advise that it is perfectly fine to cite a retracted paper as long as the retraction is noted. 

What do I do if a paper I cited was later retracted?

While it is important to know what to do with retracted papers you come across while searching, it is just as important to know what to do if a paper you've cited is retracted after you have published.
