Filters allow you to import citations from specific databases (e.g., Medline, CINAHL, PsycINFO, etc.) into EndNote to create references.
Connections are files that allow you to connect to, search, and import references from an online database (e.g., PubMed, Web of Science) from within the EndNote program.
Styles are files that allow you to output references from EndNote into a bibliography using specified referencing (citation) styles such as Vancouver, APA, etc.
The EndNote program installation includes a standard set of filters, connections and styles.
It is also possible to install additional ones, or to customise installed ones. Customised files are not stored in the program files (so that they are not lost if EndNote is uninstalled).
